Wednesday Activities Around Main Street

We had a busy Wednesday evening and we were blessed with one of our largest attendance numbers for the "Kids for Christ" program. We almost ran out of food! (Kids, come next week and make sure we run out-- we think that's a good problem to have!)

Parents, thank-you for entrusting us with your children on Wednesday nights. We try to have a good mix of food, fun, and games-- but also important life-changing Bible studies. Hey, parents, we even have classes for you! Come and check us out!

Here Amber, Jett #2, and Jeri take a break on the bleachers

Every kid must have a cell phone. Sometimes it seems they all have phones connected to their ears! Here Tasha and Brittney are checking their important messages...

Rob and Debbie's Life Group

We had a busy Sunday at Main Street! Sunday night was our monthly Life Group meeting. This month the children created Mother's Day crafts-- we ate some of the leftovers from the afternoon picnic and enjoyed a time of fellowship.
Are you part of a life group at Main Street? If you are not attending, you are missing out on some special times together with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

65th Wedding Anniversary

Congratulations to Kendall and Asbrene Milligan, who celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary here in our church annex yesterday afternoon. Hosted by their children, they had over 100 in attendance for the wonderful event.

Kendall and Asbrene-- still a "happy couple" after 65 years together. What an accomplishment!!

Picnic in the Park(ing) Lot

Well, you know about "best laid plans..." they don't always work out. Our annual Picnic in the Park became a "Picnic in the Park(ing) Lot" due to all the recent rains. At the last minute, we were able to change course and we had a large crowd at the church for our picnic.
The food was great. A BIG thanks to Daniel Abbott who smoked the meats. Thanks to the ladies who provided the side dishes and desserts.
Someone counted 150 in attendance. Hope you were able to enjoy it with us!

From The Preacher's Desk

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

The best-selling book Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff by Dr. Richard Carlson, encourages the reader to not treat everything that happens as a big deal. He writes, “Often we allow ourselves to get all worked up about things that, upon closer examination, aren’t really that big a deal. We focus on little problems and concerns and blow them way out of proportion. A stranger might cut in front of us in traffic. Rather than let it go, and go on with our day, we convince ourselves that we are justified with our anger. We play out an imaginary confrontation in our mind. Many of us might even tell someone else about the incident later on rather than simply let it go.”

There are so many “small stuff” moments that occur in our lives. We have to learn to not worry ourselves with the little things. We use up so much energy and lose touch with the beauty of life. In Proverbs we are reminded about worry, fretting, and being anxious about all of life’s “imperfections.”

Proverbs 14:29: “A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.”
Proverbs 16:32: “Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.”
Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Remember that above all, God wants to be in control of your life. And He who began a good work in you promises to bring it to fulfillment. So keep pursuing Him. And don't sweat the small stuff.

Wednesday Bible Study

Don't forget about our mid-week Bible classes~ we offer classes for all ages-- nursery up thru adult. We have three adult classes that meet each Wed., plus a Ladies Class. In addition, we have a pre-teen and teen class that meet in the gym to sing, and then splits into regular classes. Join us Wednesday and find out what you're missing.

We start singing at 6:45pm ~ this photo is taken as the kids are filtering into class.
More have arrived in this photo~

Thanks to John Mark from Crowley's Ridge College, who led singing this week. We always appreciate when he is able to come and lend a hand!
