Church of Christ Weekend @ Branson

We had a wonderful weekend at the 9th Annual Church of Christ weekend @ Branson. (Mark your calendar for next year's event on Oct.10-11, 2009).
The weather was just perfect. Our resort accommodations were ideal. The company was Christ-like. I wish more in our congregation could have attended.

I didn't see the David King family , Larry and Mary King, Charles and Jeannie Harper, the Householders, or Linda Pierce. No photos of you! (Sorry!!)

At ht entrance of Silver Dollar City-- myself, with the family

We stayed at Still Waters Resort (http://www.stillwatersresort.com/). It was beautiful. It was located only 1 mile from Silver Dollar City and was right on Table Rock Lake. The resort offered three pools, game room, free paddle boat, floats, bicycles, etc.-- fully self-contained for the family. Our room had a stove, full-size refrigerator, and a patio overlooking the grounds and lake.

Here we go.. right into the park. Check out http://www.silverdollarcity.com/ for more info. More than 2000 members of the churches of Christ attended this year's event. The park featured acapella groups, a gospel singing, and a Sunday service attended by an estimated 3000 people.

This was Debbie's favorite place. We ate lunch here both days overlooking the waterfall.

This was one of the stage shows we saw--

We ran into Willie Baker

Lisa and Rodney Hufstedler

I thought this was interesting-- a man carving a cow from butter. He was inside a refrigerated box. This was part of a salute to the American farmer. There were lots of farm implements and craft displays dealing with early America.

I spotted part of our group before the church service began

Pat Graham and Paula Fuller following a full day of shopping and fun

We just LOVED this group- three sisters called the Bradford Trio. Their website is http://www.bradfordtrio.com/. They are from Kansas City. We bought their CD.

On our way out Sunday afternoon we spotted the draft mules readying for a ride. They are part of the American Farm exhibit from Diamond JK Farms (http://www.diamondjkranches.com/).

After church Sunday, we saw some of the group and we took an impromptu group photo

At church, the children were asked to come down at the end and sing "Jesus Loves Me."

Just look at the crowd of worshippers @ Echo Amphitheatre on Sunday morning. The service was very moving. The President of Libscomb University, Dr. Lowery spoke on the subject of "Unity."

This was an earlier photo as people were filing in.

We had a great time. Thanks to Tim Wilkins and Junior Stormes for preaching in my absence.
