Hooten's 50th Anniversary Party

Billy and Peggy Hooten celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sat., June 28 in the church annex. The festivities included a renewal of their vows ceremony. They had many guests, including family and friends.

Tee-Shirt Art

The summer program art project today was "Tee-Shirt Painting." The youngsters used markers and fabric paints to create unique one-of-a-kind tee shirts.

Dillon Learns to Drive

One of our members, Tommy Gibson, is a trucker. He decided to try to teach Dillon Cagle (age 14) how to drive a "big rig."
Tommy gave Dillon some pointers, and Dillon later learned how to do some mechanic work on the truck. We appreciate our adult members who take an interest in our teens~

Wednesday "Kids for Christ" Program

Our Wednesday "Kids for Christ" Program is now more than a year old! We began June 2007 offering a special Wed. night program for kids and families. We open the gym for open play at 5pm. We offer a full supper meal at 6pm-- free to anyone who comes. We have Bible-centered lessons for all ages from 7:00pm-7:45pm-- followed by a student-led devotional period from 7:45pm-8:00pm.

I did an activity in my Bible class tonight-- the lesson was on "Being a Christian Even When Nobody is Watching". The introductory activity was for the kids to eat a donut suspended in air-- without using their hands (to illustrate difficult things-- I tied it to the lesson that it is sometimes hard to do the right thing when we thing nobody is watching-- our text was John 14:34).

We even had Chastity (our summer program coordinator) participate! (She did refuse to eat the rest of her donut that fell on the floor!)

We always have fun learning about God in our Wednesday program!

Field Trip to the Park

Our Summer Program field trip was to Stewart Park, in Walnut Ridge. We had a fun morning and the heat didn't seem to bother anyone (except the photographer!)
