Today, we had a Wacky Indoor Olympics in the gym, with Olympic medals for the winners. We had several of our teens volunteer to help with the event: Thanks to Jeri, Courtney, Hailey, and Sharon for helping today-- and our adults: Chastity, Carrie, Cliff, Clara, Sandy, and Pat J.
The children had the opportunity to make their own snacks today-- we made individual dessert pizzas-- here the kids are pounding out their dough.
Now its time for the toppings: Cherry or apple and cheese to finish it off!
Devotional time: Cliff led our singing today
More dough pounding-- sorry its out of order!
For craft time, Chastity had the kids color self-portaits-- here is big-boy Cliff's photo of himself-- looks pretty accurate!
Now for the Olympics: The "Javelin Throw" -- Maci demonstrates how each contestant must throw a straw-- we recorded which straws went the farthest.
The "Relay Race." Abbey and the others had to run the length of the gym, holding a marshmallow on a spoon-- the fastest times win
The "discus Throw". Brent had to throw the plate like a frisbee and we measured the distance
Jett shows off his completed Olympic event paper
Zach takes off his shoe to ready himself for the "One-Yard Dash." Each contestant had to see how far they could kick a marshmallow.
This event was the "Free Throw" contest-- each player got ten throws-- here Colton is taking his turn.
Other games included: "Standing Grin" and we measured each child's biggest smile, and the "Shot Put", which allowed each contestant to throw a cotton ball the farthest. (not as easy as it might seem!)
This was the "Jump Rope Challenge". Each child had to see how many times they could jump rope without missing a step.
