Youth Basketball Grades 1-2 Boys

Here are some pictures of the Youth Basketball Program. We have teams from pre-k thru 7th grade (boys and girls.) The coaches teach fundamentals of basketball, but above all they teach Christian values to our kids-- we teach our children teamwork-- every child gets to play. We have hundreds of people from the community that come and watch the games each week.
Amiee Bonner works at the concession stand. All money collected goes to the Youth Basketball program (to buy uniforms, trophies, supplies, and to help off-set the utility costs.) We thank dedicated Christians like Amiee-- who volunteer their time during the week!
In addition to basketball, we have a small play area for the younger children. They can play without disturbing the game. Thanks to Michelle and Kyle Smelser for donating many of the toys in the area.
Here is one of our Main Street youngsters-- Andrew Coker, who is playing for the Coker Insurance team. His parents, Cathy and David Coker, are active members here.
Active play... All in fun... The children learn team-building skills in a Christian environment.
Gabriel and Amiee Bonner pose for a picture. They are examples of some of the young families that attend Main St. Church of Christ.
Here Tim Wilkens, minister of the Imboden Church of Christ, handles the scoreboard. We have a number of Christians from other congregations that assist us in the youth programs here.
Every child gets the opportunity to play. We have over 150 children enrolled during the fall session, which runs through December 15.

We anticipate more than 250 children to be enrolled in the winter session, which will begin in January.

I wanted to share a couple of stories from my first experience as a mom of a 1st grade basketball son today. There is always a power greater teaching and guiding out. I hope that information comes out in the following stories. I am a single working professional mother who writes children's books that introduce kids to sports and outdoor exploration. This year I was fortunate enough to have exposure to some great coaches. Thanks to all who give of yourselves through your service!

The role of coaching in children's sports; it's more than just a game

Secondly
The best events of the year; a moms observation of basketball

God bless
