Youth Minister Position Open

Main Street Church of Christ is in search of a Youth Minister. The man hired will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the youth program for the congregation (grades K-12). We have excellent facilities including an on-site gymnasium (multi-purpose building), and established programs already in place. The Youth Minister will be supported by the pulpit minister, elders, secretary, and assisted by an active group of parents and other volunteers.

YOUTH MINISTER JOB DESCRIPTION

Education: Youth ministry education desirable

Qualifications:
1. Must be a faithful member of the church of Christ and a young man who is mature in the faith.
2. Must be willing to work under the oversight of elders .
3. Must be willing to work as part of a ministry team.
4. Must have good communication skills ~ ability to express self clearly, one-on-one, in group settings, as well as in writing.
5. Must have a desire to build personal relationships with each young person, regardless of individual interests or abilities.
6. Must attend all church services.
7. Must be a self-starter.
9. Ability to lead singing a plus.
10. If married, must have a supportive spouse.

Responsibilities:

1. To direct the youth program-- responsible for all aspects of the program. He will direct the efforts of the volunteers and build a collaborative relationship with them and meet regularly with them to exchange ideas on how to improve the ministry.
2. Be involved in the local schools.
3. Teach bible classes.
4. Planned and be involved in youth retreats or camps (typically 2-3 per year).
5. Build relationships with each student and his/her parents by:
a. visiting them in their homes and maintaining contact with them on a regular basis.
b. Visit students in their school and support events the students are involved in (e.g. sporting events, plays, concerts, etc.)
6. Leadership development of the youth group~ training mentoring, encouraging the youth to take a greater role in the ministry.
7. Plan/coordinate youth group social activities (e.g. lock-ins, weekend trips, devotions, etc.)
8. Plan/ coordinate service projects to show the community we are a caring family.
9. Develop effective publicity for youth activities through the bulletin, youth newsletter, monthly calendar, etc. This will include distributing information and flyer's of events during the year.
10. Formulate, submit, and manage a youth ministry budget each year.
11. Meet periodically with the parents to receive input.
12. Preach on occasion.
13. Assist with the fall/winter basketball program and other sporting events (attend church sporting events, prepare and deliver devos, etc.)
