Pre-Teen Bible Classes

I teach the pre-teen class on Wednesdays. One of the goals of our youth program is to develop interesting classes that will appeal to our young people-- we have some very creative teachers who develop important life lessons based on Biblical principles. Last night, our class was on Ephesians 4:16, which says, "From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."

The class was on BELONGING and becoming a friend and support to others. We must build each other up, not tear down.

Below are some of the activities:

The young people were in groups of three and had to use building blocks to make something-- but they couldn't bend their elbows-- showing the importance of "ligaments"

Here one group discusses a life scenario we called "Love Builders." Each group had to read their scenario and then think of something they could do that would tear down, and then come up with something that would build up the person. This group's scenario was: A person with a questionable reputation starts coming to your youth group. Your parents tells you to not spend time with him/her because you might be influenced. This person seems genuinely interested in spiritual matters. What should you do?

This group acted out their scenario-- Their situation was about peer who is being made fun of by other kids. This group activity was about the difficulty of working with others and how we need to all work together.
